warm Island
hearts this
winter
Young
At Heart
Musical
Theatre for
Seniors is
gearing up
for another
season of
touring.
Canada In
Love,
written and
compiled by
Stephanie
Graham and
Rob Torr,
will begin a
tour of
seniors’
homes,
manors,
community
care
facilities
and
residences
on February
14th.
“We have a
five-week
tour planned
this year”
says
Catherine
O’Brien, the
company’s
Artistic
Producer.
“Each year
we receive
more
requests for
our shows
and we hope
to visit at
least 35
seniors’
facilities
on P.E.I.
this
winter.”
April Cook
and Kevin
Morris star
in this
song-and-
dance
celebration
of Canadian
music,
accompanied
by
well-known
Island
musician,
Shawn
Ferris.
Catherine
O’Brien is
the director
of
Canada In
Love and
Garnet
Gallant is
the set
designer.
The show
will feature
music by
such
celebrated
Canadian
songwriters
as
Paul Anka,
Gene
Maclellan,
Hank Snow
and Gordon
Lightfoot.
It will also
showcase
the
music of
some lesser
known
but
accomplished
Canadian
tunesmiths,
including
Oscar Brand,
the former
host of the
TV series
Let’s Sing
Out, who
penned
Something to
Sing About
(This Land
of Ours).
In addition
to the 35
shows being
presented
for seniors,
Young At
Heart will
stage two
special
fundraising
performances.
The
first of
those shows
takes place
at the
Seniors
Active
Living
Centre at
UPEI on
February
18th at 7:30
pm., and is
sponsored by
Connolly
Group
Financial
Services.
The
2nd
show will be
at the Guild
March 16th
at 7:30.
“It will be
the grand
re-opening
of the
Guild,”
O’Brien
says. “We
are so happy
to be able
to bring the
show there.
It’s
a great
performance
space.”
The Guild
show will
feature
some special
musical
guests.
Young At
Heart
Musical
Theatre for
Seniors is
entering
it’s
seventh
season as a
non-profit
charity
organization.
Past
productions
have
included
Fascinating
Ladies, The
Big Red
Radio Show
and
Flash In The
Pan.
Young at
Heart
Musical
Theatre is
